Some folks may be interested in this as it seems to cause a lot of problems.
Assuming that you have upgraded to or originally have Apple Mac with OS 10.4.x installed, you will first need to run the Speedtouch Installer that comes with the Alcatel Speedtouch 330 as normal. During the installation, you will receive two error messages which you can safely ignore and at this point. Do not connect the Speedtouch to your Mac, regardless of the prompt to do so as it will not be recognised anyhow. Using a temporary backup dialer or an alternative location to connect from, download the Speedtouch 330 USB upgrade for Mac OS X 10.4.x from the following URL: Speedtouch 330 upgrade for Tiger Once downloaded, run SpeedTouchUSB.pkg and follow the instructions as normal. After the Speedtouch Installer has finished, connect up the Speedtouch USB Modem and go into your Network Preferences menu (apple > system preferences > network) You will see that a new network port has been detected - this means that your Speedtouch 330 USB modem has been detected by Tiger so press OK. Click the show menu and select SpeedTouch USB from the list; you can leave the Location at Automatic. From the Modem pull down menu under the Modem tab, select Speedtouch USB Modem and click onto PPP. Finally, enter the login details provided by your ISP, set the telephone number to 0 and click Dial Now. Apologies if this issue has already been addressed on this forum. ![]() pwn* ![]() |
