You said that both pc's have remote desktop installed. What program are you using to do the "remote desktop" ?
512MB BB with Telewest would suggest you have a cable internet connection. If I were you i'd get myself a router with an inbuilt switch and use that to share the connection off of the cable modem. 'Slo

Hi,
I struggled for ages with this but eventually got it working, I assume you are trying to use the windows remote desktop? (accesories/communications/remote desktop connection) first of all have you got users set up on the pc's with passwords? and do you know the ip address of the pc you are trying to access? let me know this and we will work from there. Are you sure we're not talking about WinXP here?
Win2k Pro is not capable of running the server section of Terminal Services that is required on the system you are trying to connect to using the remote desktop client. Win2k Server does run Terminal Services however. Both XP Home and XP Pro have the "Remote Desktop Connection" feature, which is basically the closest you will get to terminal services in XP. 'Slo

OK,
I think what nomad is talking about requires XP, you say you have Win2K Pro...is this right? In order to connect to another system using remote desktop, that system must be running either terminal services (win2k server), Win2K3, or XP Home/Pro. The only other alternative, and in my opinion a better solution anyway is to use something like TightVNC, which is free! ![]() If you're after a cheap way to share the internet connection then you could try reading this guide on ICS in Win2K : http://www.winnetmag.com/Windows/Art...189/21189.html The other alternative is a hardware solution whereby you buy a router with an inbuilt switch and share the connection to the modem using this.
