looking for Winbond Electronics USB Memory Stick Reader/Writer

Hi all,

been away along time .. now i'm back i'm looking for Winbond Electronics USB Memory Stick Reader/Writer tried driverguide.com but keep getting useless wrong drivers... got the info of the hardware from unknown device finder and this is what it says

what operating system do you have installed?

most USB devices work fine w/o needing a specific driver installed, if it's working w/o the driver I would just use it

its a hardware thats already inside the pc so wanted to find the driver for it....
Its coming out as Winbond Electronics USB Memory Stick Reader/Writer when i find it but its not usb its already in the computer.

might be USB,. plugged into one of the internal USB ports / direct to the motherboard?

tried that but its like a long panel that starts from the front right to the back and its a card reader(like cable cards) cos its quite wide

For anyone to help they would have to know what OS you are using and what the PC brand and all that.

Quite often all the drivers for anything are avalable but you would have to know what you are looing for. That includes OS and hardware information.!

Post up the info and see if help arrives ....

The driver i am looking for is in red...
when i searched for the driver name using "unknown device finder" it gave me the name " Winbond Electronics USB Memory Stick Reader" so thats what I posted up

So what was the MotherBoard model ??

You can see it printed on the Board.

I presume that you have been to the Advent site
and downloaded the correct drivers for your product .

Didnt you get a Driver CD with the PC ??

I found one driver set for the Winbond Reader/Writer, but I dont know if you have already tried it or how old it is.

EG. Memory Stick Reader/Writer Ver: 1.0. W81386D driver (silver version)

Right click on the link below and Save As... etc, save it to the Desktop,

Unpack the Zip file to its own folder, then open the folder and double click on the Setup386.exe

There is a W81386Dsetup.zip mentioned in many places, but it doesnt seem to be available from Winbond or anywhere else.

Anyway, see if that helps or not.

I think that its L4S5MG3-651+ as that comes up in the beginning of switching on !!!

Could only see 5 drivers but perhaps they have more tucked away.!
They do have USB2.0 driver.

If you ar talking about card adaptors then perhaps this is not part of the motherboard and perhaps an after market card reader has been fitted.
Do you have a card reader in or on the machine ??
Perhaps it is filling one of the floppy bays ?

I tried with the driver that you suggested but I keep getting this error even if I have not put anything inside the usb card slot(pic below of error)....

sorry the error is not coming up rite now but when it does I'll post a pic of it !!
so lets say its working for now cos I do not have a card that I can test it on ...lol

ur driver I tried but it don't work....
The usb card reader is attached to the motherboard but how I do not know cos the inside is very compact and hard to see.

If you have a card reader in the mchine then perhaps you need to discover what that is and find the correct driver for that.
If it is not a part of the mother board then it will not be any drivers supplied by them.

So the lid is comming off !
Then you can see what the true number of the card reader is.
Then it should be a simple matter of either finding the correct driver or replacing the reader with one that works.
